  2.       CENTRAL POINT ANTI-VIRUS FOR DOS VERSION 2.X SIGNATURE UPDATE

  5. The self-extracting archive file named V2SIG.EXE is for users of Central
  6. Point Anti-Virus Version 2.0 and later.  It contains updated files that
  7. include the latest virus signatures available.
  8.  
  9. Due to an increase in polymorphic viruses, this signature update includes
  10. both an updated signature file SMARTSIG.CPS, and an updated executable file
  11. CPAV.EXE. The executable file has been updated for detection and removal 
  12. of the new polymorphic viruses.  No new features have been added.
  13.  
  14. To update your files, you must have CPAV Version 2.0 or later on your 
  15. hard drive.
  16.  
  17. 1. If you are on CompuServe or the Central Point BBS, download the
  18.    self-extracting archive file as V2SIG.EXE to a temporary directory
  19.    on your hard drive.
  20.  
  21.    If you have the Central Point Anti-Virus Signature Disk, copy the
  22.    self-extracting archive file V2SIG.EXE to a temporary directory on
  23.    your hard drive.

  26. 2. Run V2SIG.EXE to extract the update files, UPDATE.EXE, CPAV.UDT, 
  27.    SMARTSIG.CPS, VIRULIST.CPS, and the README.TXT file.

  30. 3. From the temporary directory run UPDATE.  Update asks where your
  31.    current version of CPAV exists.  Type the path name.  The files 
  32.    in the current working CPAV directory will be updated automatically.
  33.    In the process of updating your current copy of CPAV, the old CPAV.EXE
  34.    is renamed to the filename CPAV.OLD.

  36. 4. Reboot your computer to update VSAFE with the new signatures.
  37.  
  38. 5. Run the Central Point Anti-Virus program.
  39.  
  40. 6. Delete the update files from the temporary directory.
